Woody Guthrie as a country singer is an interesting notion. I attended a panel discussion in Ford theater at the CMHOFM which focused on Woody Guthrie. Arlo was present as were Arlo's children. Robert Oermann made very insightful comments about Woody Guthrie as a country singer and his significance in the country music tradition--by far the most focused comments of any of the panelists on the intended theme. If Robert Oermann subscribes to this list, his comments would be worth having posted. I think Oermann's comments could clarify the entire Guthrie thread. Best wishes, James Akenson (Editor's note: Robert Oermann does not subscribe to H-Southern-Music, but if anyone knows how to contact him, please forward him this message. Thanks!)
